This August 30, 2012, Commissioning Ceremony Night of Church of God’s National Overseer, Regional and District Overseers was held in COG-Dasmarinas. This has been attended by pastors, council, ministry heads, cluster heads & leaders from different regions all over the Philippines, attended by about 150 guests from the National Board, PCMC, MMR Region. A tribute was given to Bishop Mark & Sis. Remy Ligero for their faithful service as National Overseers. He is now on his 49th year of serving God and was the National Chairman in 1991, and the National Overseer from 1996 to August 2012, and now commissioned as our ASCM President. During this time Bishop Anthony Velasco was commissioned to be the new National Overseer. He received his Bible, a towel representing a servant-leader’s heart just like Jesus Christ , the booklet of its minutes and policies of Church of God, and a compelling message from Bro. Marc Morris (Regional Superintendent, COG Austral Asia):

“Our Lord himself demonstrated that he who would be the leader of all must first of all be a servant. Servant leadership has God what calls us to do and just as he bowed to wash the feet of the disciples as a humble servant so we were called to wash the feet of our saints that we are serving, the word of God, the principles of the church, and a  towel for service, I’ve  mentioned that brother Mark and sister Remy,

[that] they are the embodiment of history, as I look at you and Gigi and your beautiful family you embody hope for the church of God…”

Passing the baton to Ptr. Carlito Navarro as MMR Overseer  together with his beautiful family was a moment where God’s empowering Spirit was felt and indeed humbling to witness, especially by the people present at that very moment. Also  Ptr. Ronald Camiling-Cavite District, Ptr. Jun Ricardo- Laguna District, Ptr. Jerry Cruzem-Manila were commissioned to be the Metro Manila Region (MMR) District Overseers as well. Together with the pastors from North Luzon, Central South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao Region, and some with their beautiful families joined this momentous service. This is more than an event that will soon be forgotten, for this will launch God’s work to be done, and be witnessed by many to come to pass, knowing that the Lord will be the head of it all, of the body of Christ.
